    Hi,

Product fields go onto product page, but if I make a change to the fields it won’t update on the product page. They still show even when the product is removed from the fields group, and the entire fields group eventually deleted.

In an earlier post, the following details were requested:
    – the version of the plugin you’re currently using >> 2.14.4
    – your WordPress version >> 7.0
    – your WooCommerce version >> 10.9.1
    – your PHP version >> 8.4.2
WooCommerce → Status → Logs >> no errors (except for pinterest)
Browser console (for JavaScript errors) >> i don’t know what it means, but …

    Hi @fullcolor

Thank you for providing the additional information.

As a first step, could you please update Flexible Product Fields to the latest version (2.14.7) and check whether the issue still occurs? Several fixes have been introduced since version 2.14.4, so we’d like to rule out the possibility that the problem has already been resolved.

If the issue persists after the update, could you please describe the exact steps you are performing? For example:

    1. Do you create a new field group or edit an existing one?
    2. Which product(s) is the field group assigned to?
    3. Do the fields initially appear correctly on the product page?
    4. What exactly do you change in the field group (e.g. add a field, remove a field, rename a field)?
    5. After saving the changes, what do you expect to happen, and what actually happens?
    6. Are you editing the product page itself, or only the field group?
    7. When you remove the product from the field group’s assignment, do the fields remain visible on the product page?
    8. After deleting the entire field group, do the fields still appear on the product page?

A step-by-step description will help us reproduce the issue in our test environment and investigate it more effectively.

    Thank you in advance!

    Hi rzepsen,

I just updated again (because yesterday the latest version was 2.14.4) but the problem still occurs (even after log-out/log-in).

    1. Do you create a new field group or edit an existing one?
I did both, but for this test I made a new field group.
    2. Which product(s) is the field group assigned to?
Both simple product and variable product (or did you not mean that?).
    3. Do the fields initially appear correctly on the product page?
      YES.
    4. What exactly do you change in the field group (e.g. add a field, remove a field, rename a field)?
I did all that (i’m testing wich fields I like/need), but for this test I changed the text in the Placeholder and in the Tooltip (I made a field group with 1 text-field). I also changed the selected product: add one and removed the first.
    5. After saving the changes, what do you expect to happen, and what actually happens?
I expect the text to change but nothing happend. The field group appeared on the second selected product, but didn’t disappear at the first one.
    6. Are you editing the product page itself, or only the field group?
Only the field group. I refress the page of the product.
    7. When you remove the product from the field group’s assignment, do the fields remain visible on the product page?
      YES (see point 5)
    8. After deleting the entire field group, do the fields still appear on the product page?
The field do still appear (even after log-out/log-in).

I hope this helps to find a solution.

FYI: My page is online, but it is behind an under-construction plugin, so there is nothing to see (for visitors).

    Kind regards,
    Bianca

    Hi @fullcolor

    Thank you for your message.

This problem may be related to other plugin used in your shop. Please try to isolate an issue, by disable plugins which are not our or WooCommerce. Then please enable plugins one by one, deleting cache, and check if the problem still exist.

If yes, please test the plugin again, but now using Storefront – official WooCommerce theme. It will help us identify a possible conflict with your theme.

Please, let me know about the result.

    Best Regards,

I replied to your question, but I think something went wrong: I don’t see my reply in this line-up. Did you get it (my reply) or do I have to type it again?

Sorry I didn’t mention it sooner, but I’m already using Storefront for my website.
Hereby a list of used plugins (except the ones provided by WooCommerce and WP Desk)

    Plugins added by me:
Change Storefront Footer Copyright Text by QuadLayers
Nifty Coming Soon & Maintenance Page by WP Hait

Plugins added by my hosting provider:
Redis Object Cache by Till Krüss
    webreus-cache by WebReus

Plugins added (by WordPress?) when installing WooCommerce:
    Jetpack by Automattic
    MailPoet by MailPoet
Packlink PRO Shipping by Packlink Shipping S.L.

Can you already pinpoint a ‘culprit’, or do I need to test all the plugins?

    Kind regards,
    Bianca

    Hi rzepsen,

I’ve found a solution (don’t know if it is also the problem).
If I make a change in a productfield and update it, I cann’t see the change on my productpage.
But … then I go to the plugin “Redis Object Cache” and I click on the clear cache button. Then, when I refresh my productpage, the change is visible.

There is a reason this plugin is activated by my hosting provider. They have informed me of the following:
“It is well known that WooCommerce is a very resource-intensive plugin.
The plugin’s developers recommend using a dedicated server.
This indicates that it is too demanding for the shared hosting we offer.
We can activate Redis caching (Redis Object Cache plugin), which speeds up WooCommerce sites. We do that for clients using WooCommerce.”

Does this help you guys finding the problem?
I did say I found a solution, but it means I have to clear the cache every time I make a change to a FPF field.

    With kind regards,
    Bianca

Thank you for your findings and for sharing this information.

I tested Flexible Product Fields in my own test environment, and I couldn’t reproduce the issue. When I change the field label in the plugin settings and save the changes, the updated label appears on the product page immediately after refreshing the page. There is no need to clear any cache.

Based on your observations, I suspect that the Redis Object Cache plugin may be interfering with the way Flexible Product Fields updates its data.

Could you temporarily disable the Redis Object Cache plugin and check whether the issue still occurs? If the changes to your product fields become visible immediately after saving (without manually clearing the Redis cache), it would confirm that the object cache is causing the problem.

Please let us know the results of this test, and we’ll be happy to investigate further if necessary.

    Hi rzepsen,

Based on your observations, I suspect that the Redis Object Cache plugin may be interfering with the way Flexible Product Fields updates its data.
Right, when refreshing my pages, every ‘flickers’ except for the Flexibel Product Fields. Like, the FPF fields are skipped.

“Could you temporarily disable the Redis Object Cache plugin and check whether the issue still occurs? If the changes to your product fields become visible immediately after saving (without manually clearing the Redis cache), it would confirm that the object cache is causing the problem.”
You are right: after disabling the Redis Obejct Cache, the changes to my product fields became visible after refreshing the page.

So, now I know the problem.
But… is there a solution to this problem (other than removing the Redis Object Cache plugin)?

    Kind regards,
    Bianca

Thank you for confirming the cause of the issue.

At the moment, we do not have an immediate solution that would resolve this while keeping both plugins active. The proper way to address this would be to add a dedicated integration between our plugin and Redis Object Cache so that both systems can work together correctly.

I have already submitted a request to our development team to consider adding such an integration. I have also added the link to this request to our list of customers who are waiting for this functionality, so the team can take the demand into account.

As soon as we implement an integration between the two plugins, I will let you know.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Is there anything else I could help you with?

    Hi rzepsen,

No, I don’t have any further questions. I’m just glad I know how to get it working, even if the process is a bit cumbersome. Thank you for all the effort and for your help.

    Kind regards,
    Bianca
