• Earlier I could write a blog post in a Word document and copy paste it on the WordPress, but I no longer can. See the screenshot below. When I copy-paste the text, it sometimes has the correct spacing, like in the first half, and sometimes the spacing disappears, like in the second. What I have to do now is copy-paste each para from the Word document instead of copy-pasting the entire doc once. This takes five to ten times more time.

  • When you paste a full Word document, it carries hidden formatting (spacing, styles, line breaks). WordPress sometimes strips or converts this, which is why some paragraphs keep spacing and others lose it.

A few things that may help:

    • Try pasting using “Paste as plain text” or Ctrl + Shift + V
    • Alternatively, paste the content into Notepad first, then copy into WordPress
    • Use the Block Editor paragraph blocks instead of pasting the whole document at once
    • If possible, avoid copying the entire document in one go and paste section by section (as you’re already doing)

This is a known formatting mismatch between Word and WordPress, so unfortunately there isn’t always a perfect one-step fix.
