• I upgraded WordPress to 7.0 and now editor has a very wrong aspect and miss the dark mode support even if I use third part plugin to have a dark mode in the WordPress admin panel. Two different plugin are unable to have the dark mode working on the editor but also the editor looks broken.

I’m very deluded from this update that broke WordPress admin editor and now who will fix this issues?

    Terrible update for me.
Missing dark mode, a small area where write and edit text that cannot be resized.
An update that broke editor aspect and create issues on creating editing content on my experience. Terrible.

  • Hi @peopleinside

WordPress don’t have a dark mode out of the box, if those issues are happening you will need to reach the plugins support so they implement compatibility with the new update. For example https://wordpress.org/plugins/darkify/#developers implemented the compatibility in the latest version and it worked well on my test.

You mentioned the editor and seems you are using the classic editor plugin? https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/classic-editor/

I ask because I didn’t have issues with that plugin on a fresh WordPress site, you may run a full plugin conflict test just in case: https://wpmudev.com/docs/getting-started/getting-support/#conflict-test, but in any case, those aren’t a core issue but plugin level problem that require updates.

Hi Patrick, thanks for the reply.
I know WordPress doesn’t support the dark mode this is why I have a plugin that redesign the admin interface and integrate this. Also for the front end.

I discovered that the new WordPress update that update also the Gutenberg editor that I was never able to appreciate is now causing new issues. I cannot edit existing article because some function for who use the classic editor has been deprecated.

The WordPress 7.0 update is not a good experience for me. Now I need to find a way to replace completely the Gutenberg editor and I hope to find it because I have many articles that is no more working.

I use the classic editor but also Gutenberg but now I’m having a lot of issue after the WordPress 7.0 update.

    Hello @peopleinside

In the latest updates of WordPress, Gutenberg has improved significantly and its a very good editor in my experience, if you were using a special feature for your article, you may want to find an alternative approach to implement it; otherwise, the best solution could be switching to Gutenberg completely and removing the classic editor, as its also deprecated and will be removed in the future.

I understand that Gutenberg has improved for many (and I dont agree), but my experience is different, and I see many other users reporting similar issues just to read reviews on the Gutenberg page.

I have specific reasons for not using Gutenberg. For my workflow, it lacks essential features like easy link management, advanced text editing options, and flexible video embedding without relying on widgets that often break my layout. Suggesting I switch completely to Gutenberg ignores these legitimate functional gaps.

I’m very deluded about this WordPress 7.0 update. The CMS seems faster and this is good but my editing and creation experience keeps getting worse. I will find a way to stop completely to use Gutenberg editor, this will be maybe the solution.

    Hello @peopleinside

I understand your perspective, but I want to provide the best advice. The Classic Editor has been deprecated for several years, and continuing to use it may lead to issues in the near future.

This is a compatibility issue, and the Dark Mode plugin needs to be updated to work with the latest version of WordPress. Therefore, I recommend reaching out to the plugin developers to resolve the problem.

Thank you Amin. I really dont like the Gutenberg editor and again if you look at the review you can see that’s not only me. I will find a way to replace the editor that use WordPress and I dont wanna imagine what will happen when the Classic editor, today used still a lot and better quoted in the reviews, will be removed. I dont believe 🙂

Thanks anyway to the time and reply ands help.

I’m closing this topic to new replies as it’s just become a place to complain about the “no longer new and not called Gutenberg ” editor. Those replies were not on topic and have been removed.

The Gutenberg plugin is here and where upcoming features are tried by the user base for testing.

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/gutenberg/

It is for users who want early access.

    Early Access

Are you a tech-savvy early adopter who likes testing bleeding-edge and experimental features, and isn’t afraid to tinker with features that are still in active development? If so, this beta plugin gives you access to the latest Gutenberg features for block and full site editing, as well as a peek into what’s to come.

If someone has an issue with a feature that was added by that plugin, they may seek support in that plugin’s support forum.

    https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/gutenberg/

If you have WordPress 7.0 or general WordPress issues (any version) you can seek support here.

If you want to blog about how awful you feel the (not so new) WordPress editor is, feel free to do so on your own site. These are support forums, not anyone’s blog.

I am now closing this topic.
