Yet another new “feature” in 7.0 that hasn’t been thought through.

    • Insert a custom pattern. It’s linked, so it appears in magenta.
    • Select “detach”.
    • In 7.0 you get a warning prompt (as if you are an idiot who did not deliberately select “detach”) asking you to confirm this is what you want. Screenshot on pasteboard (will be auto-deleted on Aug 22, 2026)

OK, whatever, include it. But for the love of all that is holy, add a bleepin’ “Don’t show again” checkbox there. Do WordPress devs deliberately try to add speed bumps to workflows? Years later, the “open link in a new tab” speed bump hasn’t been fully resolved…

(I don’t expect replies, nor will I be opening an issue on GitHub – I’ve closed my account there. I just wanted to put this here because I know others have the same problem and I don’t want them to think they’re crazy).

  • I see both sides of this. Confirmations can help prevent mistakes, but when you’re repeatedly performing an intentional action, they can become an unnecessary interruption. A simple “Don’t show again” checkbox would make the feature much more user-friendly.
