Hi Scott,
If you use images inside the Avia Framework (Enfold), the free version might not be sufficient. It won’t be able to read that proprietary data, meaning it could flag media for deletion that is actually being used.
To be completely honest, I don’t use page builders myself. However, I’ve spent the last 10 years working non-stop on Media Cleaner to support them. While they offer an interesting user experience, they create a lot of messy, hacky data under the hood. Media Cleaner has become very unique in the way it handles and cleans all of this up.
That said, Media Cleaner keeps deleted files in its own internal trash folder, so they can be easily recovered if needed. Try this first, check the results. If you are not using the Page Builder to insert your images, it might work perfectly with the free version of Media Cleaner.
Site cleanup is always a huge task, so making a full site and database backup (preferably through your hosting service) is mandatory before you begin! 😌 (I know, I repeat myself, here, in the description, in the warnings within Media Cleaner, etc, but it’s really important)
Once you’ve tested it out and confirmed it works nicely for your specific site, you can reliably use it over and over again.
