Hi there!
I can understand your concern, especially before making checkout-related changes on a live store.
Switching from the classic shortcode checkout to the new Checkout Block can affect both layout and payment gateway compatibility/styling, depending on the payment gateway and any customizations currently in use.
The Checkout Block uses a different architecture compared to the shortcode checkout, so while many modern payment gateways already support it, some gateways may:
- Display differently
- Have limited styling customization
- Require updated versions for full compatibility
- Not support the Checkout Block at all yet
If you are using custom CSS, template overrides, or checkout customizations, those may also need adjustments after switching.
Before making the change on your live site, we strongly recommend:
- Testing the Checkout Block on a staging site first
- Updating WooCommerce and your payment gateway plugins to their latest versions
- Checking with your payment gateway provider to confirm full Checkout Block compatibility
Could you also let us know which payment gateway(s) you are currently using on your site? That may help us provide more specific guidance regarding compatibility with the Checkout Block.
