A solid backup solution with excellent support
-
I waited 9 months to review WPVivid Backup because I wanted to write an honest (and hopefully useful) review of this product.
During this time I discovered WPVivid Backup‘s strengths and weaknesses after putting it through its paces and was pleasantly surprised by the developers’ lightning fast responses to my questions (thank you, Nicholas!), and their genuine desire to help solve any issues I encountered by digging deeper into them.
Here’s what I love about WPVivid Backup:
- It “just works”. I don’t have to think about how to use it or worry if I’m doing the right thing.
- I especially like the restore messages and progress indicator.
Here’s what I didn’t like about WPVivid Backup:
- Uploading a backup to a live site takes longer than I’d like. TBH, this is isn’t a reflection about WPVivid Backup itself, but more on how PHP can sometimes be less performant than desired.
Thankfully, there’s a simple workaroud: I manually upload my backup files from my Local dev site to my live WP site’s /wp-content/wpvividbackups folder using CPanel’s File Manager and then simply rescan for backups using WPVivid Backup‘s convenient “Scan uploaded backup or received files” button.
This reduced the time to upload about 2.5GB of content from a couple of minutes to 15 seconds.
Summary:
I tried several WP backup solutions and kept coming back to WPVivid Backup. IMHO, this is a solid and easy to use product that quite simply gets the job done, is easy to use and is very robust.
