If you already have a shipping insurance option through your carrier or shipping company, then this will work great to collect insurance fees. Works best if you have set table shipping prices, but you can tweak it to scale with price. the normal scale is percentage based so you have to be careful not to skew it too high or low for expensive orders. The basic functionality of this is what makes it so great. No fluff. Set it up how you want it, where you want it.
