I want to redesign my website from the ground up while my existing site continues happily. I would like to set up a staging site in a subdirectory. But I can’t see the option to do this. I can only see the option to clone the existing site. One of the reasons I want to start with a fresh install of WordPress is to get rid of all the junk hanging around my old site. The last thing I want to do is to copy it all across.

    How do I do this?

    Hello @littleblogger

I hope you are doing well today. Thanks for writing us.

We don’t have a direct option to create a blank staging site right now (We have this feature in our road map and hope to include it in a release soon), but we have a workaround right now.
You have to create a staging/clone site and follow this article to make that staging/clone site a fresh WordPress installation.

I hope it will help you. If anything else comes up, don’t hesitate to contact us.

Thank you. I will try that.

Some scary-looking code for the average user. But I’m game.

I think added the option of creating a blank staging site would be useful for your plugin.
