Linked Images now Auto Lightboxing

    A recent update, although I don’t know how far back this goes, started to apply the lightbox functionality to inline images that had html-based link functionality.

    As a hypothetical example, a button image in a Divi text field that linked to another web page, set up as a classic href link:

    <a href="https://mysite.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-251 size-full" src="https://www.anothersite.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/button.png" alt="&gt;&gt; Button" width="120" height="33" /></a>

    The net result being that the lightbox plugin overrides this link functionality now, and instead opens the button image in the lightbox instead of honoring the link that should occur.

    Version 2.2.4 is what’s currently running.

    The plugin has been installed for years on multiple websites to support very old blog posts going back to the pre-blocks era.

    Look for the red “subscribe” button on the homepage at on these websites for a live example.

    Plugin is “active” on https://www.amazonasmagazine.com/ – subscribe button now opens in a lightbox; historically it did not.

    Plugin is currently “inactive” on https://www.coralmagazine.com/ – and functions as it normally should.
