Hey, I’m new to UpdraftPlus and just want to be careful. After creating my first backup, is it recommended to test the restore option once, or only use restore when something actually goes wrong?

    Hi there,

Where backups are concerned, caution is a good approach. Testing’s a good idea.

The restore process is very reliable but it always depends on a functional backup.
Hence, I’d suggest you take time to familiarize yourself with running the backups.

There’s an article here which explains how to setup and run a backup of your site:
    https://teamupdraft.com/documentation/updraftplus/topics/backing-up/faqs/how-to-backup-with-updraftplus/

There are other useful articles linked on the page, including the restoration topic.
In summary, while we don’t recommend a test as such it’s good to have practice.

That way if you do need to restore you’ll have a good backup and know how to.
Simply put, as long as the backup is good the restore process should be smooth.

    Best regards,

    Nick
