Our soccer club, which is dedicated to the integration of young people, has switched hosting providers for the website ssvsaarlouis.de.

We created a backup using Updraft and downloaded it.

Now we want to restore the backup on the new hosting provider.

Uploading to the WordPress plugin works, but nothing happens afterward.

    What are we doing wrong?

We don’t make any money from the website. Everything is done on a volunteer basis.

Please don’t tear my request apart. I’m at my wits’ end.

    Thanks for any help.

    Hi there,

It sounds like you’ve done everything correctly, it’s curious the plugin isn’t working.
Could you describe the difficulty you have with the plugin or provide a screenshot?

You can use a free service like https://www.pasteboard.co/ to share the screenshot.
Could you tell me which hosting you’re using? Sometimes this can also be a factor.

    Best regards,

    Nick

    Hi Nick,
    Thanks for your quick reply.
I click the button below the text that says “Drop your backup files.”
Then I select the file. It appears in the bottom left corner. But nothing happens.

    Hi there,

Thanks, I’m very happy to help.

So I think I have any idea of what’s happening and I’ll explain the possible solution.
The backup files are mostly in the zip file format, except for the database, that’s gz.

What you need to upload is the zip files and database (gz) which will look like this:

Your files will feature the name of the source website instead of ‘UpdraftClone’, etc.
The files in the image above are a basic guideline but you may have more than this.

For example, you could have multiple uploads files uploads2.zip, uploads3.zip, etc.
It’s possibly the same for plugins but much less likely for themes.zip and others.zip.

In short, you should upload all the related backup files from the same backup time.
These are the actual backup files. Currently it looks like only a log file was uploaded.

I hope this helps. Please message me back if you have any difficulties or questions.

    Best regards,

    Nick

    Hi Nick,
Thanks again for your incredibly helpful assistance.
I only have the one with the “up” button.
Looks like I’ve got some work ahead of me.

    Best regards
