• I successfully enabled multisite and have been trying to set up domain mapping with no luck. I’ve read through many tutorials, but I must be doing something wrong.

I have my main site, mysite.com, and several subdomains:
    sub1.mysite.com
    sub2.mysite.com
    …and so on.

I’m on shared hosting with TigerTech and my domains are registered through GoDaddy. The nameservers of mysite.com point to TigerTech.

I’ve parked a custom domain, sub1.com, that I want to go to sub1.mysite.com. The A Record of sub1.com points to the server IP.

When I’m in the backend of sub1.mysite.com and try to add sub1.com as a new domain, I get a 404 error if I set it as my “primary domain for this blog.”

This is my first time doing something like this, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you park it on mysite.com and NOT the subdomain?

Thanks for the response. In “setting the nameservers” in GoDaddy, I can select one of the following options: I want to park my domain, I want to forward my domain, I have a hosting account with these domains, or I have specific nameservers for my domains. I chose park. I can only set the nameservers if I choose the last option. Should I be choosing the TigerTech nameservers?

    No.

In the GoDaddy panel, choose “Total DNS” anf put the IP address of your host in there.

In TigerTech, Park your mapped domain on top of the wordpress install. If they don’t have a park option, look for serveralias.

That’s it. They don’t have a park option, so I had them set up a serveralias for sub1.com, and all works fine now. Thanks for the help; I hope this can help someone having a similar problem too.
