Manual Related Posts Not Working

    HI, I’m unable to use the manual related posts feature. When I type a post id, the little wheel spins at the right side of the field and then disappears without giving me any posts to choose from like it used to. The same thing happens when I start typing a post title.

    Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
    Disabling all plugins except Contextual Related Posts and Disable Gutenberg.
    Different browser (I use Chrome, but I get the same problem on Edge)
    Deactivating and then reactivating the Contextual Related Posts plugin
    Deleting and reinstalling the Contextual Related Posts plugin
    Clearing my Static Server Cache
    Clearing my Server Object Cache

    I’ve used Contextual Related Posts on my site for a long time – maybe seven or eight years? It has always worked perfectly. I have not made any major changes that I’m aware of and I don’t believe I’ve changed any Contextual Related Posts settings. I’m running the most updated version of WP and the Extra theme from ElegantThemes.com. There are no Javascript errors on my WP Post Edit page. For displaying related posts automatically, the plugin is working great. I just cannot use the manual related posts function and I do need it. Any insights you can provide will be much appreciated. Thank you!

    From what I read above, are you using the Classic Editor i.e. not Gutenberg?

    I tried it with Disabled Gutenberg and can confirm that I can replicate the issue. I’ll hunt for a fix.

    Please could you go to Settings > Related Posts and resave the settings there? I’m also creating a fallback method to fetch posts if related posts don’t work in the search.

    I have resaved the settings in Settings>Related Posts. There was no confirmation that they were saved, but I made a change to the existing settings and clicked “Save Settings” at the bottom and then I put the change back and clicked on “Save Settings” again. The manual related posts function is still not showing search results.

    I should add that as a part of my efforts to get this working again, I have also run the Contextual Related Posts settings wizard several times.

    If the Disable Gutenberg plugin is the issue, I should be able to just disable it while I set the manual related posts and then reactivate the Disable Gutenberg plugin, right? I think can do that if there isn’t an easy fix.

    Update: I tried disabling all of my plugins, including the “Disable Gutenberg” plugin and it did not fix the issue.

    Would you be able to try this beta version of the plugin?

    You would need to download the beta from there and then Plugins > Add New > upload

    You are a genius! Yes, this beta works with all other plugins deactivated. I will try again with a fresh copy of my live site on the staging server and I will leave the other plugins activated. Update shortly. Thank you!

    Update: Success! The manual related posts search is working on my staging site just like it is supposed to. Should I upload the beta to my live site or wait for an update to push through the normal WP plugin updates page?

    Thank you for confirming.

    I am close to pushing through a final version in a day or so. But, you can use the beta on your site as well for now.
