I am hosting a website on dreamhost. I just want a customized password entry page. The PPWP Single Password form was successfully edited through the wordpress customizer.

It seems that there are two ways to set password protection:

    1. The Page dashboard that lists each page and whether it is protected.
    2. The individual page’s status and visibility setting, where a “password protected” checkbox can be selected and the password is set.

The second method seems to have no effect, as you can preview the page without being prompted to enter a password. Since this is how the password is set, the first method simply locks the page as no password exists.

Additionally, I set a master password, but this did not work on the password protection page. Strangely, when setting a master password, the only option for post types is “posts”, not pages (which I am trying to password protect).

    Hi @trristanr ,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

To clarify, in the PPWP Free version, passwords are displayed and managed within our plugin section on the Edit Page screen. The Protect button in the first method you mentioned simply protects the page. To view, change, or add a password, you will need to open the page in Edit mode.

In the Free version, we use WordPress’s default built in password protection feature and enhance its functionality.

If you would like to manage passwords outside of the Edit Page screen as described in the first method, you may consider upgrading to PPWP Pro. The Pro version allows you to manage passwords through a dedicated password management popup.

    • In the Free version, the master password can only be applied to the “post” post type. That is why it does not work for pages.
    • To use the master password feature for pages, you will need to upgrade to the PPWP Pro version.

    Best regards,
