Hey @starhorsepax2,
Thanks for reaching out to us.
“Double Opt-in” is crucial in MailChimp for spam prevention. That said, how are the users added to your MailChimp Audience? Are you using our integration method or our form? Can you please share a link to the website/page on your website where we can test the form?
There is one here on the page and another here – in a popup when you click the download button.

Those seem to be ninja forms, not forms created by our plugin.
Are you using the Ninjaforms integration of MC4WP?
For the best control over form settings I recommend you create the form under MC4WP > Form.
Then you can turn on Double opt-in under MC4WP > Form > Settings.
Some integrations with third party plugins have limited configuration options.
Hope that helps. If you have any further questions please let us.
Kind regards, Arne
Yes we are using Ninjaform integrations. Isn’t there a way to convert it? I thought that was the point of the plugin. That’s a fair number we’d have to redo. :/ We did make one form directly in the mailchimp. I don’t see any way to make the others. And if we did would they be clickable? Why is it even an option in the Ninjaform drop-down if it doesn’t work without double opt in?

Absolutely, it’s possible.
When you edit the Ninja form, go to the “Emails & Actions” tab, click the + to add a new Action and choose the Mailchimp action (if not already added).
Then click on the Mailchimp action where you will have a setting for the list/audience, double opt-in and field mapping.
Hope that helps. If you have any further questions please let us.
Kind regards, Arne
