[noob question] Notify users of new posts by email

Hi all,

Been searching for a while, now and tried several plugins but I can’t seem to achieve this :

– Have people enter their e-mail address on the blog and click on a “subscribe” button
– Receive a confirmation e-mail that they have subscribed to the blog
– Have them receive an e-mail each time a new post is published on the blog

Which plugins do I need to have these basic functions ? Do I need a smtp plugin as well ? I tried Subscribe2 but my blog being in french, there are too many english sentences I can’t change in it (added to the fact that e-mails I registered never arrived).
