• Hello,

After updating WordPress core and my theme (GeneratePress), my website started facing a Google indexing issue.

    Details:

    • Around 50+ previously indexed posts were deindexed
    • New URLs are crawlable (Live Test: URL is available to Google)
    • But pages are not getting indexed
    • No robots.txt block, no noindex tags

I later found LiteSpeed Cache aggressive options were enabled during the update.
Those options are now disabled, cache cleared, and sitemap resubmitted.

Can a WordPress or theme update combined with cache/optimization plugins
cause unstable HTML rendering for Googlebot and temporary deindexing?

    Any guidance would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

I would answer your question with a flat “no”. However, the reason for this is not WordPress but Google. Their technology does not work in such a way that live changes to projects are constantly detected and taken into account. Your website is not constantly accessed by Google bots to check this. Furthermore, if there are changes to the indexing status, there can be many reasons for this. I would recommend taking a closer look at Google Search Console to see if Google reports any anomalies there.
