Payment Pending

I cant find a fix for this, and it seems to be going on for year.
Everytime someone makes a payment, it is taken ok in Sumup, but the order stays on pending payment.
I have disabled the hold stock and disabled the create an account on checkout.
Neither of this have resolved this issue.
Does anyone have a fix for this. Thanks
