Running tons of WP platforms, that file stays in all installations with Nov 13 2024 date … false positive or WP update bug ?

    Hi @wphyp and @nicodemusy2k,

WordPress 6.9 missed removing one file during the upgrade process. This causes the scan result: Old WordPress core file not removed during update: wp-includes/SimplePie/src/Core.php after you’ve updated to 6.9.

It’s safe to ignore the scan result, as a future WordPress release should remove it.

    Many thanks,
    Peter.

It’s “safe” to delete. I manually deleted the file and my website runs fine and Wordfence is happy. 😊

THat file can be removed directly from Wordfence dashboard. The easiest way in my opinion.
