• I am trying to get my blog uploaded to a site that will print it up into a book. The site says that it will import from a WordPress platform, but that I need to change from my custom URL back to the default WordPress URL and that I can revert back to the custom one afterwards. I have bought a template from Yamidoo, so it is not a wordpress template, not sure if this makes any difference, don’t know how to go about changing it and am concerned that I will lose the blog completely if I start fiddling about with it.
Would be most grateful for some assistance.

I may be mistaken, but this may be referring to a wordpress.COM hosted website…..

do you have a wordpress.com website? Or did you install wordpress software onto a host?

Perhaps it is referring to default Permalinks. Try resetting your custom permalinks back to the default setting in Settings->Permalinks.

Ahh, my site is not hosted by wordpress.com, I have it hosted by someone else, therein may lie my problem. I will get back to their support, I think I may have the right question for them now.
    Many thanks.

Your site may not have to be hosted by wordpress.com, it was just a suggestion of something to look into.

@esmi has suggested a good option as well. It depends on exactly what the service meant with those instructions

My URL is set on the default setting in the permalinks setting, the check box for default is ticked, anyother ideas?

Just a thought. If it is asking you to use WordPress.com (Which sounds like it), you could always export an XML from your WordPress installation, upload to a free blog at WordPress.com, let that script run and then delete the posts on WordPress.com.

Might be an hassle to do, but would work.
