Help with 2010 theme's sidebar/widgets?

So with the new year, I decided to use a simpler plain yet decent looking theme for my site. I installed the 2010 theme but are having some issues with the widgets.

For the widgets, it has two sidebar and four footer widgets spaces, but they don’t appear to work like other themes. You can’t just drag and drop widgets into the sidebar, it appears you have to nest them into the pre-set widgets and are limited to two. Is there a way to modify this so that the sidebar lets you drag and drop more than two widgets? I currently have more than two that I want to use: Adsense, search, blogroll, RSS link and a gallery image thumbnail rotator.
