My sitemap (https://talksocially.com/sitemap_index.xml) is not getting indexed.
When I run a live test in Google Search Console, it shows this header:

    x-robots-tag: noindex, follow

Because of this, Google is skipping my sitemap and none of my pages are being indexed.

Can you please explain why Yoast adds this tag and how I can fix it so my sitemap can be indexed properly?

    Thanks,
    Muhammad Ans

    Hello Muhammad,

My sitemap (https://talksocially.com/sitemap_index.xml) is not getting indexed.

Your sitemap is for bots, not humans, so it should not be indexed by search engines. Simply put, it should not be found in search results.

When I run a live test in Google Search Console, it shows this header: x-robots-tag: noindex, follow

This is the expected header response. Your sitemap should have a noindextag that prevents it from being indexed like regular content on your website.

Because of this, Google is skipping my sitemap

No, this is not the reason why Google is skipping your sitemap. Have you submitted the sitemap index to Google Search Console? Has the sitemaps been processed?

and none of my pages are being indexed.

Have you run the live test in Google Search Console on your posts or pages? What reasons did Google give for not indexing?

Can you please explain why Yoast adds this tag and how I can fix it so my sitemap can be indexed properly?

The noindextag is added to a sitemap so it is not found in search results. The URLs in the sitemap have a indextag. They are what should be indexed, not the sitemap itself. We do not have a workaround to remove the noindextag you see on the sitemap.
