[Plugin: WP Mail SMTP] Cannot Redeclare Class SMTP

    After activating the plugin, I try to update the settings and get a blank admin screen (the sidebar loads, but the main body is empty and the footer doesn’t load).

    Here is the error from my logs:
    PHP Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class SMTP in /var/www/wpress/wp-includes/class-smtp.php on line 37, referer: http://{website}/wp-admin/plugins.php?activate=true&plugin_status=all&paged=1

    Sorry I’m a bit slow getting back to you on this. Did you find a solution in the end? I’m not sure what would cause this error, it doesn’t look like an issue with the plugin, I don’t remember seeing it before (I’m the plugin author).

    The problem seems to have stemmed from another plugin that had the same class defined. Though the plugin was no longer active, the class definition wasn’t released. Restarted Apache and the problem went away.

    Done and done.
