Offloading works for me, but I have stopped the process half way because I am not sure about two of these two things:

    • Does it affect SEO Backlinks to images? Are the old image urls for example redirected to the new links?
    • Is it in any way possible to revert the image removal from the site and bring it back to how it was without loading a backup? Of course I backed everything up before, but it would be a much faster process if a “download” was possible for offloaded images
    • Does it generally work with all plugins? I had to reset the image f.e. in our Cookie Plugin, otherwise the image shown to the user was not loading as it was pointing to the old url

    Hi @stefancodeqo

Currently, the plugin does not redirect old image URL’s automatically. For redirection you should add it manually! But it’s in our backlog and we will implement this feature in next releases.

Unfortunately, it is not possible at this time. However, if you use the smart retention policy to keep the original image on the server. You can then use “Regenerate Thumbnails” to generate all the image sizes without restoring them from a backup file.
But i will add this feature to our backlog so we can work on it in future.

It works with most popular plugins. In fact it should work will all plugins that are using default WordPress methods to handle their media without any custom modifications. If you have found a compatibility issue with a plugin you are using, feel free to create a new ticket and share the details with us. We will work on that to fix the issue if possible.

Thanks a lot for the answer, I am really looking forward to those features. In the meantime, I’ll look into a solution for redirects.
