when i post to reddit it takes a tiny thumbnail and the post title and shares to reddit. But on reddit the image doesnt show and i want it much bigger than a thumnail. I also dont want to use the default title i want something specific to my mrmbers.
another problem is it removes the native comments which is fine if you don’t have any comments. I want the native comments then reddit comment below or above it doesnt matter
I made some test comments after posting and these comments didnt appear on my wordpress

I’ve noticed some issues with the featured image not embedding in some cases. One possibility is that reddit does not auto-embed the webp format. So if you are using webp images, then reddit may not embed them. At the moment this is not something I have learned how to control.
Another reason images might not shows are:
1) The topic posted needs to be approved first by the subreddit admin/moderator. — make sure it is approved and if it was not showing before it might show.

Regarding the thumbnail size. This is not something I believe we can control. Reddit automatically sizes the thumbnails. So this appears to be default behavior.
When large images are seen in reddit posts, they appear to be uploaded manually. I will look into whether or not the images method can be supported by the API and added to the plugin. I’ll report back later shortly if I am successful at adding this.

Currently, when syncing from WordPress Post -> Reddit Subreddit, we can edit the title in the title field. It defaults to {post_title} but you can change this with a manual overwrite.

Did you make these comments directly to the subreddit? I just tested the commenting system and its working on a brand new site I setup.
Please allow a little bit of time this week to see what improvements are impossible based on your feedback.

The image size could be a problem cause the thumbnail just gets less engagement.
it just looks like a social share.
the test comments i made were on reditt after sharing there but they dont then show on the article when you click back
i couldt see how to change the title from default
and yes need to keep the native comments on the screen as well.having do many posts with comments.

Okay I’ve made improvements based on the feedback.
We now have anImagesformat mode in addition toPostandLinkand this mode is now the default. It will allow full width images (including gifs and webp format) to be attached to the reddit post.
I’ve attached an image showing where we would edit the image(s) that can be uploaded:
If there’s a featured image attached to the post, it will auto select it. It can accept multiple images and will create a gallery if multiple images are added.
Additionally I improved the placement options to include,
Radle above WordPress,Radle below WordPress, andShortcodefor custom or in-content placements. I also added the ability to overwrite which comment system is used at the post level, so you can enable Radle site wide and manually enable WordPress comments for the posts that have comments you would like to keep.

I don’t have beta testers, and sometimes, things work well on my end and not well on others due to different environments.Hello looks much better, however when i post and then comment on the post on reddit those comments don’t appear on the blog it just says loading all the time.
Also when i post it adds the link to the wordpress post but its quite ugly as in it appears as a raw https link, it would be much better if it appeared as a text link and not a raw https link. So the option for the text link to be the post title or preferably to be text of your choice would be great, you just don’t want the post to look like a social share or it will be ignored.
Im only able to display reddit comments below wordpress comments and not above and the newest/popular/oldest pull down menu is not displaying correctly the text for the first option is cut off.
It would also be great to also be able to post to just your profile because this only works currently if you own the reddit sub you are posting to. I can post to r/actionfiguregeek because i am the admin if i want to post to r/actionfigures i can’t cause i can’t authorise the connection so the option to post to your profile is really needed unless i have overlooked something.

With over 900 posts i would need to visit each post to enable wordpress. Its easier to just have both enabled and then over time revisit old posts and add them to reddit .

Hello, so have added this post to reddit https://actionfiguregeek.com/unleash-your-inner-hero-a-deep-dive-into-the-threezero-dlx-spider-man-advanced-suit-2-0-action-figure/ and added a comment via reddit and when i go back to the post it just says loading comments.
I can currently only select comments below wordpress comments and on the pull down menu there is only Newest and nothing else that can be selected.

I also note that if you share to reddit and then go to reddit and delete the post and then go back to radle and try to share again then it won’t let you because it says its already been shared.
I can see occasions when resharing would be useful. for example:
You make a post and for some reason it gets no comments after a few days. If you can delete it and post again so its fresh on reddit then this may well be enough to kickstart the comments, or could you just reshare with a new title and it appears as an update below all the previous posts comments so a second tier of comments – hope this makes sense?
Or you might just need to repost because you made a error the first time

Hello, just discovered that i can’t publish new posts unless i deactivate the Radle plugin.
Wrote a new post, tried to publish but it wouldnt let me, i deactivated the plugin and it let me publish.
I also can’t update posts while the plugin is activated.

Thanks for sharing the additional context. I took a look at the page example you shared and noticed that the supportive JS that is required to operate the Radle comment system is not being loaded. Possibly there it is being minified and grouped with other JS files and this minification/combination is causing it to break.
If that is the case try disabling js combination from your caching tool to see if that solves all your issues both backend and front, including publishing/saving. Or try disabling the caching tool all togther from a staging version of your website.
If that does solve the issue, then you may need to add these files to your exception list:modules/comments/js/comments.js
modules/publish/js/publish.jsI also note that if you share to reddit and then go to reddit and delete the post and then go back to radle and try to share again then it won’t let you because it says its already been shared.
If you delete the post from the destination subreddit (delete from the reddit.com server) and then disassociate the past reddit post from the WordPress post, it should let you repost without issue.
I’ll note down the request for a repost feature, too. Due to th requirement to have multiple associations, and keep track of two locations, this is probably something that I might not do. Deleting the connection, the post, and reposting seems like the best bet for now. But I’ll think on this more.I use Jetpack boost for my cache and speed optimization and when i disable this option

On wordpress i have a text link in the comments that says View More Nested Replies that bounces blog visitors out to Reddit, would prefer them to stay on the blog ands read them on the blog and only bounce out if they are leaving a comment.
And it would be really useful if i could select just wordpress comments just radle comments or both for individual posts cause going forward if i have reddit comments i can just drop wordpress comments.

You would have to set the default to Radle only, and then use a script to manually set each legacy post.
I generated a script that you can add to your functions.php to try and automate / bulk update all old posts with the overwrite at the post level. This will allow you to set old posts to the hybrid and keep Radle as the default going forward.
I have not tested it and it should not be attempted on your live site without first attempted on a staging environment. I cannot stress enough that this would need to be first attempted on staging. If you succeed on staging, be sure to take a backup before attempting on production just in case something crazy and unpredicted happens. Crazy stuff happens all the time. Its best to be safe.

I am not sure what you’re describing here. When I click a Image type post, the image opens, no text is shown. Its a lightbox. When I click the title the post loads with the image up top, an the comment and link below it. Can you rephase and share an example? I’ll take a closer look.

It’s possible that caching is enabled to 5 minutes by default for you due to a bug in Radle lite. It should be off by default, but I think its hard coded to 5 even though its saying 0. Please check back after 5 minutes and see if it updates and I’ll patch this bug for the next release.
Reddit limits API calls to 100 per minute so if you expect 100 visits to blog posts a minute, the 5 minute caching is going to help you from being rate limited. If you knock it down to 0 after the next update, which it will do automatically, you might start seeing the comments not load occasionally.Text links in reddit comments are also appearing as html and not clickable.
The reddit comments that appear on wp have share and hide buttons. Nothing happens when you click these and the upvote downvote button on comments on wordpress seems to have no functionality as well.
And 2 levels of comments doesnt seem very many for the free version?

if you delete comments on the reddit share they still show on the wp article which is a problem and image comments display on wordpress as html and not images
That should be fixed after the cache clears. I’m pushing a new version today that should make sure the cache is off for radle lite. In the meantime, lite version should have a hide option to hide any comments you do not like manually.
Also now below wordpress comments i have the text Comments Disabled?
I’m not able to repeat this. What global placement setting are you using? I’ll test with your theme once I have it and maybe will discover a bug.
however if you click the image instead of the title you see the image, text snippet but the clickble text link has gone but you can still scroll down to the comments.
Can you share a link to an eample. When I post a single image and click it, all I see is the lightbox open with the image, no text. Is this for an “Images” type post to reddit?
