Hello and good day.

I have imported the .json successfully.

However, upon saving, GTM is giving an “Unknown variable name” error.

Any idea how I can fix this?

It will not allow publishing.

Hello @rayeason,

Thank you for reaching out.

I imported the container successfully and saved it without issues. In my case I overwrote the data, so no issues. Importing into an existing GTM setup might collide with existing tags.
Could you record a short video showing the error and post it here? Without that, it’s hard for us to help.

Hello and good day.

I encountered the issue again on a brand new tag account.

I think it’s the EVENT trigger that is causing the issue.

I created a variable for {{Event}} and it allowed me to save.

Not sure if that was correct or not.

We are supposed to create and map an event?

Hello @rayeason ,

Thank you for your update. Yes, creating the {{Event}} variable was indeed the correct step (screenshot here). I’ve replicated the tag on my side and had no errors.

If the trigger still gives you issues, you can safely set it to “All Custom Events” (screenshot), it will still fire correctly once the Marketing category is accepted.
