    Hi there!

I am trying to setup the MailPoet by configuring “Other” Send with service … I would like to use my WP Mail SMTP, so I installed SMTP Mail Control for MailPoet and tried enabling simple “Your web host / web server” Method. But every time I click “Activate” button, it takes me back to choose between MailPoet Sending Service and Other (Configure).

You see, I am new to MailPoet and would like to use it for Post Notifications with my existing Brevo transactional service and WP Mail SMTP that we are already using. So, I found this third-party plugin SMTP Mail Control for MailPoet and tested sending (Test the sending method and it works just fine … test email is delivered), but it won’t let me save/activate it. It always takes me back to the same screen with two options again: MailPoet Sending Service or Other (with Configure option).

So, what can be done to SAVE the basic option to be able to use WP Mail SMTP for sending newsletters with MailPoet?

    Please let me know ASAP.
    Thanks, Danijel

    Hi @thup90 ,

Never mind … I realized that delivery via WP Mail SMTP works just fine when configured as described above … it’s just that it is confusing that after setting it up it still keeps asking me to “Connect your website with MailPoet.” How can I remove that nag screen in MailPoet?

You see, it is true that I do not have MailPoet account, because I am using paid Brevo transactional service instead. Thanks for the wonderful plugin and all of its functions!

    Regards, Danijel

Hi Danijel, I’m glad to hear you’ve figured it out!

Can you make sure a valid API key has been added to the website?

If it has, please click “Verify” under the MailPoet > Settings > Key Activation tab.

Let us know how it goes. We’re here to help further.

Thu @thup90 , as I mentioned above, I do not have MailPoet account, because I am using paid Brevo transactional service instead. But it works perfectly with the third party plugin “SMTP Mail Control for MailPoet” and “WP Mail SMTP.” The only annoying thing is that nagging screen to connect to MailPoet …

    Thanks anyway!

    Hi @dmarin,

As I understand, you’re using the free version of the plugin with a 3rd-party sending method, but there’s a setting in the 3rd-party plugin you have set this sending method that is kind of buggy. Is that correct?

As these integrations are not oficial ones, it’s possible that updates may have broken any past connection that this setting requires. I’d recommend contacting the plugin’s author to ask for assistance in this case.

Hi @bruberries , the 3rd-party plugin “SMTP Mail Control for MailPoet” actually works perfectly (it connects MailPoet to the WP Mail SMTP service through Brevo).

The problem is actually MailPoet’s “Send with … ” settings tab, because it is confusing that after setting it up it still keeps asking me to “Connect your website with MailPoet.” So, my question is how can I remove that nag screen in MailPoet since “Other” send service through SMTP mailer works just fine?

    Regards, D.

@dmarin I see. Could you please share a screenshot with the “Connect your website with MailPoet.” message you’re seeing?

The “SMTP Mail Control for MailPoet” is a 3rd-party plugin and, unfortunately, I’m not familiar with how it works. From the MailPoet plugin side, it is still required that you fill the “Other” settings when setting up a 3rd-party sending method, even if you’re using another plugin. If the plugin overrides the settings from MailPoet, you can simply select to send it with your own host, so at least the set up is complete there.
