Feature proposal: display child categories

Hi, thanks for this great plugin.

One thing that I think would be useful would be to be able to display images from any categories assigned to post, and of such categories and their child items.

In my particular case; I want to have logos of organizations next to post about them and need it to be flexible, so the end users dont need to adjust the shortcodes each time anything changes (like a new category). And to make it harder site is multilingual so I have absurd amounts of category items, each language has its own categories.
Trying to hack something to that end right now something but I’m not much of a coder.
