Posting to social media on its own on post update
-
Hello team,
After one of your recent updates, I noticed posts on Facebook that I did not send there. Meaning, I never ticked the box to send to social media. I’m referring to existing posts, not new posts. Either way, it seems to be sending existing posts, after clicking on update, to social media, on its own, without us having ticked any box.
This has been going on for a few weeks now.

Hi @ramouz ,
Thanks for reporting this issue.
To help us track what’s happening, could you share a bit more detail? Specifically:
- What version of Revive Social are you currently using?
- Are you using any special configuration, like scheduling rules or “auto-share on update” settings?
- Does this behavior happen every time you update existing posts? Does it occur only with certain posts or all of them?
- If possible, please share a screenshot of the post edit screen—especially showing the social sharing options when you hit “Update.”
Once we have this information, we’ll dig deeper and aim to get it resolved promptly.
Thanks
Hi,
- I’m using v9.3.2.
- Not sure if I am using anything special. I don’t have auto sharing active. I do have taxonomies excluded. I have share more than once active. This one is active also “Enable Instant Sharing Feature (Post on Publish)”. This also “Enable Google Analytics Tracking”.
- I tried sharing a random old article now from 2019, and some from 2024 and 2025 and they didn’t get added. Something must be triggering this and I have no idea what. Last time this happened was on August 15. I published a new article and edited an old one (I ticked the boxes for the new one so it gets published on FB but not for the old one). Both ended up on Facebook.

Hi,
We’ve released an update. Can you please let us know if you are still experiencing issues with this latest version?
Thank you!
Hi, thank you for the update.
- I believe it’s fixed but I’ll only find out along the weeks as I update and work on blog posts. This is a concerning issue though as some articles may be private and I do not want them published on social media. It creates trust problems..
2. Meanwhile, there is another issue and I think it existed from the past few versions.
When you create a new blog post, save as draft without publishing, after saving, when I tick the box for “Share via Revive Social”, the social media that appear are not ticked. But, before saving as draft OR when an article is already published, those social media are ticked by default.
3. Is there a reason why, in the past few months, sending to Facebook has become slow? It used to work quickly, meaning we would see our post on Facebook, but now it takes about a minute or two for it to appear on FB. I did notice your plugin is much faster now when saving an article and ticking the box for FB, but the actual article showing on FB takes time.
The issue is that when we’re in a rush, which is every work day, we are forced to wait and refresh Facebook every 30 seconds to see when it’s actually published. I have had it not publish in the past so again, concerning. Unless this has to do with FB doing internal changes, causing this?
Thanks!
Hi there,
Still waiting for an answer to my previous questions/reports, and also please note that the original issue has returned.
I save a random blog post by updating it, without checking anything in Revive Social, and it publishes it to Facebook. Quite annoying as I am not aware it’s doing that so I’m seeing random posts now.
Hi @ramouz,
To make sure posts aren’t shared automatically when they’re being updated or created, please go to your Revive Social settings and disable the “Enable Instant Sharing By Default” option. This will prevent new or updated posts from being shared right away.
Regarding the sharing queue, posts may still be shared if their taxonomy (category or tag) isn’t excluded and it’s their turn in the queue. You can:
- Exclude specific tags or categories to prevent those posts from being shared, or
- Configure Revive Social to only share posts that have certain tags or categories.
Lastly, please double-check your minimum post age and share more than once options to ensure that only the posts you actually want to share are included in the rotation.
I hope this will help.
Best regards,Hi,
Is there a reason why I should disable “Enable Instant Sharing Feature (Post on Publish)“?
It disables the whole feature in Posts and then I can’t use it to share when I want to. There’s a bug and you’re basically telling me to disable your plugin to fix it.Secondly, this is already disabled: “Enable Instant Sharing By Default“, so it shouldn’t submit anything unless I specifically tick those boxes.
Third, I don’t use auto-sharing. It’s disabled. So, the rest of your message won’t apply in my case.
I hope you can resolve the issues reported here.
When will you fix this important issue?
It keeps posting to Facebook on its own even though nothing is ticked when editing and updating a post. I don’t want posts going there just because I updated them. I manually tick/check your plugin’s boxes when I want a post to be submitted there.
I would appreciate a reply and a confirmation that you’re working on this bug.
Last week, I was fixing broken links, and I had to update those old posts, and then found Facebook with many many posts that I never allowed Revive Social to publish.
Incidentally, yesterday I realised that I can’t publish to Facebook anymore when actually checking the checkbox when publishing and/or updating a post. So, today I removed Facebook from Accounts in your plugin in order to add it back. I cannot add it back. After signing in using your plugin and checking the account I want, it doesn’t add any account there. I even tried in troubleshoot mode with no plugins/themes and it doesn’t add it. I disable modsec in my cPanel and still it did not work.
Are you still supporting this plugin?
