Resizing event image thumbnail in event list

    I just started with Events Manager. I have an events list with event image thumbnails on each event. The thumbnails are pretty large and I want them smaller. I tried changing the placeholder in the layout settings from medium to small, like this:

        {has_image}
        #_EVENTIMAGE{small}
        {/has_image}

    And #_EVENTIMAGE{100,100} also does nothing.

    What am I doing wrong? What’s the preferred way to control the size of thumbnails in the events list?
