    Hi,

    Thank you for reaching out.

Imagify uses either Smart or Lossless compression before generating the WebP version. If you’re using Smart, it focuses more on reducing file size while maintaining quality, and Lossless tries to preserve the original quality as much as possible. Regardless of the compression type, when the WebP version is generated, the file size gets reduced, so it may look more optimized. Try optimizing losslessly and see if the WebP meets your quality expectations.

We also recommend not pre-optimizing images before uploading to WordPress, as double optimization could lead to visible quality issues, especially in gradients or smooth textures.

In some rare cases, the visual difference might also depend on the image type itself. For example, images with soft gradients or flat color backgrounds are more likely to show artifacts when compressed.

Do you notice this issue on every image or only certain ones like the one shared? If it’s limited, it may be specific to the image characteristics.

    Best Regards,
