Hi @sgumby, thanks for your question.
We always recommend keeping WordPress up-to-date for security reasons. However, outdated versions in scan results do not result in the update of WordPress core or any plugins for you. The plugin only makes recommendations that you do so.
Many thanks,
Peter.

I know that’s the general wisdom but in my experience its always good to be a few clicks behind the updates because if an update has a bug then I’ve just broken my site until the bug can be fixed. And I’ve created extra work for my self to restore.
@sgumby, I bet your hosting company forced an update. I know Siteground does that. I’m not clear under exactly what circumstances. They don’t always notify you.

Its not the hosting company. I am the hosting company for all but 1 of the sites.

Thanks for the extra information @sgumby. Did it turn out to be the plugin’s change of auto-update code?
Peter.

I don’t know. The plugin says its not them and I don’t really have the time to dig through the code at this time to find out. I think what I might do is just install an old random plugin because it seems that the autoupdates only happened on sites where all the plugins would have been compatible.
Best of luck with your checks @sgumby. If anything else comes up, you’re welcome to open up a new topic any time!
