    Dear BackWPup community
We are having the same problem as the thread in the link below.

    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/decryption-key-needed/

it is shown “enter your decryption key to decrypt your backup.”
I have not set the encrypted.

I am using BackWPup version 5.2.3
    WordPress Version 6.8.1

Please tell me how to solve this problem.
I am a beginner and I don’t know what to do. Please forgive me if my question is inappropriate.

    Hello,

    Thank you for contacting us.

Please make sure you’re using the correct backup ZIP file when restoring. Here’s an example of the expected format: https://prnt.sc/WXnRTb1criF-. Sometimes, the correct backup file is inside the ZIP you have, so it’s good to double-check.

If that’s not the case and you’re able to extract the backup files, you’ll likely need to manually restore the backup by following this guide:

Feel free to reach out if you need any help during the process.

    Dear BackWPUp Support
    Thanks your help.

I checked my backup file name. I think it is a correct file.
    the file name is ,
    2025-06-09_02-38-33_Y4JDBRXZ01

The Zip archive cannot be opened in Finder on my Macbook either.
How can I do about it ?

    Excuse me, bothering you

    regards

    Hi,

Thank you for checking and sharing the file details.

If the ZIP archive does not extract on your system, it likely means the backup file is either incomplete or got corrupted during the backup or download process. This would also explain the decryption error.

Please check if you have any other backup file that extracts correctly and contains the full WordPress files.

Let me know if you need help with the restore steps once you have a working backup.

    Thanks your help

    Following your advice,
I have tried to unzip other backup files.
Since we back up once a week, I downloaded and tried 5 weeks of files.
    All failed to unzip.

    Then I noticed something strange.
I have downloaded the same backup file multiple times, from
“Backups History” page. The size of those zip files is different each time. And the overall file size seems to be smaller 10MB – 20MB.
Is there something wrong with the compression of the downloads?

Sorry for all the things I don’t know for myself.

    regards

    Hi,

Thank you for checking and sharing this with us.

From what you described, it seems like the download may be getting interrupted or incomplete; which would explain the varying file sizes and unzip failure.

Could you please try downloading the backup again and check if the file size looks correct before attempting to extract it? You’ll need a complete backup file to restore successfully.

Let me know how it goes.
