I’ve recently installed and activated the plugin and I am very pleased with it except for one problem I can’t seem to resolve. Rather than picking up the current menu items the responsive menu has legacy items. I can’t figure out how to use the current menu items or update the legacy items. I’m using the Twenty Twenty-Four theme.

As an example, note how the main menu has an item “Education programs” but when you use a responsive menu that item isn’t there.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

  • Dear @wajohnst,

I hope you had a great weekend. Apologies for the delay in getting back to you, and thank you for activating the Responsive Menu plugin on your website. I’m glad to hear that you’ve started working on creating the menus.

As a general note, menus are usually managed under Appearance > Menus, where you can create, edit, and assign menu items. However, I’d like to understand more clearly what exactly you’re trying to edit—are you referring to main menus or any specific menu items that are associated with the Responsive Menu plugin?

If you’re having trouble identifying how to use or update the current menu items—or if you’re seeing legacy items that are unclear—please feel free to share a screenshot of the section you’re working on. This will help me provide more accurate guidance based on what’s visible in your setup.

Let me know, and I’ll share the step-by-step instructions to help you move forward smoothly.

Thank you for your time and cooperation.

    Best regards,
    Dhanush

Thanks so much for the response, Dhanush. I will try to explain.

If I go to Appearance/Navigation I can update the main menu. But what appears in responsive mode is a prior version of the menu that I cannot edit. If you compare the main navigation menu in desktop and responsive modes you will see that the entries are different.

For example, the desktop version has an entry for “education programs” while responsive has an entry for “publications.” I need to make the responsive menu the same as the desktop menu.

    Thanks.

    Hi @wajohnst ,

Thank you for your prompt response, and apologies for the delay in getting back to you.

I appreciate you for clearly explaining the section you’re trying to achieve. To ensure the menu items display as expected, please make the following adjustment:

Kindly go to QSM → General Settings → “Choose WP Menu” and select the same WordPress menu that is currently being used in your theme’s desktop menu. This ensures consistent menu rendering across both desktop and mobile views.

You can refer to the following screenshot for guidance:

Applying this setting should help you achieve the desired layout.

Thank you for your time and cooperation. Please feel free to reach out if you need further assistance.

    Best regards,
    Dhanush
