Hi. I’m trying to put a search function on a wordpress site and not having success. I’ve tried the basic WordPress search option, used a plugin called Ivory Search and tried the Search option provided by Divi, the theme that was used to build the site. With all of those, each and every search phrase or word brings back the same exact results, no matter what the phrase/word is. All of the results are exactly the same, every time. Can anyone help with why this could be happening and a possible fix?

  • Hi there,
    Hope you’re doing well!

To add a search function to your website, there’s no need to install any additional plugins. Simply navigate to:
Divi → Theme Customizer → Header & Navigation → Header Elements
There, you’ll find the option to “Show Search Icon”, just enable it.

    Hi @dsb0328

In addition to above, you can visit official Divi theme support forum at: https://www.elegantthemes.com/forum/

Thanks for the speedy replies! I turned that on in Divi, but again, I get the same results for every phrase or word I enter into the search bar. This is so confusing. I’ll try to read the Divi forum tomorrow and see if it can answer why this is happening.

Just to follow up here, the Blog settings on the custom search results page was not set up for dynamic results therefore just returning the latest posts. Changed this and now it works.
