Login: direct or only throug Bluehost?
-
I did the following things:
2 – I registered a domain through Porkbun (berlin-explorer.org)
3 – I settled a hosting contract with Bluehost and installed in my space WordPress.org
Now: I have access to my blog, when I firs login in Bluehost.
What must I do in order to login through WordPress.org?
The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

You can go through this page if you have the user and password
Just to clarify:
When you install WordPress locally (or on a hoster), you log in locally to that installation. You can do this via the URL mentioned by @sirlouen. There is no connection between your local installation and wordpress.org for logging in in your website. Alternatively, you can also log in via your host, which apparently also provides you with this option. When I enter in a browser the URL of my site “https://berlin-explorer.org/“, I’m brought to its home page with the message “Coming Soon!” and, in its footer, the line of text
“A Bluehost powered website. Is this your website? Log in to WordPress or Bluehost. ” If I Bluehost, I’m brought to the login page of BlueHost; then, once logged in, I’m brought to my space inside BlueHost. Here I can click the button which says “Edit your site”, and I am finally in the site.
Since I see also the possibility of accessing my site through loggin in into WordPress, I tried this possibility alternative way. Clicking on the link “WordPress” I find myself in its login-page. But, whereas when I go directly to WordPress I can login into it, this time the loggin fails, both with my user name and with the email-address. The message is that the either the identificator or the password are wrong.
I tried to request a new password, but I don’t receive the email that should allow me to change it.
There is probably something that I don’t understand concerning the relations between BlueHost, WordPress.org and my computer. I suppose that my site is in one of the servers of BlueHost; that if I used another host, it would anyway be in his servers, and not in the servers of WordPress.org.
Can anybody tell me if my guess is right, or explain me how do such things work? Can anybody imagine why do I have to log in my site through its host and not through WordPress? And why, when I access WordPress.org through the link contained in the footer of my homepage, WordPress doesn’t recognize me?I’d be grateful.
Again: there is no connection between your WordPress installation on Bluehost and WordPress.org.
Based on your description, I suspect that you do not have a valid WordPress login. You can probably log in via Bluehost, as they will set this up for you. You would need to ask their support team for details on how to do this.
So that you can log in via
wp-login.php, I would advise you to do the following once:- Log in to your WordPress backend via Bluehost.
- Go to User in the menu on the left and check whether a user has been created for you.
- If so, edit it. You will find a form field there to manually assign a password. Use this and save the change.
- If not, create a new user with your email address AND a password of your choice.
- You can then log in via
wp-login.phpwith the email address or username of this WordPress user and the password you have chosen.
There are many reasons why you may not be receiving emails from your WordPress site. For example, email delivery via PHP may be disabled by your host, or your receiving email server may think it is spam. There is a solution for both cases: delivery via SMTP (this allows WordPress to send emails just like your email program). There are various plugins available for this that you need to install, activate, and set up in your WordPress backend. In these, you enter the SMTP access data for one of your email accounts. WordPress would then use this connection to send emails. Examples of these plugins can be found here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/tags/smtp/
Hello there! Chiming in on this thread.
You can access the dashboard through your Customer Portal by going to https://bluehost.com/login and entering your billing email address and billing password.
From there you would:
- Click on Hosting in the left-side menu.
- Click on Edit Site under your berlin-explorer.org hosting package.
Once logged in, you will be presented with the option of publishing your site which will remove the Coming Soon page you currently see.
Also, you can get to your direct WordPress login screen by going to https://berlin-explorer.org/wp-admin
If you have any questions on this, we will be happy to answer them. Our support team is available 24/7
I am deeply grateful to both of you.
