Display Categories underneath the header image

    I’m trying to get my categories to show up underneath my header.
    Currently I have Home and then the two pages that I have created: About and Test Page.

    The them that I currently use does not support custom menus. Using the procedure from the following:

    I was able to enable custom menus. I was even able to get the categories to show up, but they were in a vertical list above or below the header.

    What I would really like to do is to display my categories in the same menu bar underneath the header image that my pages are displayed in. Any help would be much appreciated!
