I activated DEBUG and checked the debug.log – and found these lines:

Regarding clicking Data, Frequency and Storage: I activated the Chrome Inspector of my browser, clicked the links: nothing was shown in the Console of the Inspector.
And I have to add another issue: the full history of backsups has disappeared. Backup History has not a single entry – despite the last one was run last night.
And: I’ve set up this backup (of last night) of files only on Friday. At that time all the links worked well. Since then this backup last night was the only scheduled one.

Follow up: I’ve upgraded BackWPup to version 5.2: unfortunately no solution for my issue. Even clicking “Add a new backup” doesn’t trigger any action.

Hi,
We’re really sorry to hear this happened.
This issue was identified in version 5.2, where some servers without the PHP function cal_days_in_month() experienced a fatal error during update. The good news is that this has been fully resolved in BackWPup version 5.2.1, released just recently.
Please update to version 5.2.1, which restores compatibility and should resolve the crash. If you’re still in recovery mode:
- You can log into WordPress Recovery Mode (via the link WordPress sent).
- Navigate to Plugins > Installed Plugins.
- Update BackWPup to 5.2.1 from there.
- Then exit recovery mode once the update completes.

I clicked the Data, Frequency and Storage links with version 5.2.1: no action, no improvement.
As I use BackWPup on other sites and tested 5.2.1 there too and the links worked there.
Therefore I uninstalled and re-installed BackWPup on this site – now it works (almost, that’s another issue).
