• I was wondering if there is a plugin that will place the categories menu in the sidebar onto the main (front) page of a blog also. But in a directory style format with parent categories in bigger sizes and child categories below in smaller size. So visitors can see it the menu right away so they can go directly to what they are looking for faster. I’m not sure if this is a plugin issue or a theme issue?

I looked through plugins but cant find what I want.

    Thanks for any help.

  • Your easiest solution might be to use the category widget. If your issue is that your main page doesn’t have a sidebar, that is a theme issue.

The Widget Logic plugin will let you say you only want this widget displaying on the homepage. However it won’t put it on the homepage if you don’t have a sidebar on your homepage.

Parents in bigger sizes and child below in smaller size is controlled by CSS styling in the theme stylesheet.

    Hope this is helpful.

I looked into that but the instructions are beyond my comprehension, thanks anyways. 🙂 I tried using some of the code but couldn’t get it to work. I guess I need something simpler…I’m so stupid lol.

I’m not sure if you understand what I want. I want a directory system using the category menu in the sidebar. You can get an idea of what I mean at these URLs:

    http://phpnuke.org/modules.php?name=Downloads
    http://xoops.org/modules/repository/

See the directory in the middle of the page?

These other CMSs have a directory module. I know WP is a blog CMS, but it’s probably the most popular one around that I would think someone would have a need for what I want, unless there is one that I don’t know about. Anyone know of one? Thanks for any help.
