    Hi again,

The post Excerpt block nested inside the Query Loop > Post Template strips the post HTML. This matters for poetry. Line breaks are ignored and the text appears as a prose block.

As an alternative to using the Post Excerpt I know I could use the ‘More’ block within each Post and, instead of using the Post Excerpt, use the Post Content instead. However, apart from all the manual work of adding the More block to X number of posts, the UX is also not quite the same. I’d prefer to use the Excerpt block.

Any suggestions on how I might address this?

  • Hi
Please understand that the blocks are not part of the theme and not created by the theme. They are part of WordPress itself. A block theme only use and place blocks. That is what makes block themes different from so-called classic or PHP based themes. The theme does not control the HTML markup that the block outputs, nor its features.

To find existing reports about bugs with the blocks, as well as feature requests for the blocks, you need to use the correct ticket systems. Not the theme support forum. A feature request for a block that is posted in a theme support forum will not be noticed or followed-up on by the WordPress developers.

Here are the open issues for the post excerpt block:
