I had to update an event date today. I was first disappointed to find that the Quick Edit function is completely useless. It doesn’t show the actual date the event will be in the quick editor, every event on our list shows as being Jan 7. Nor does it update the event date, you have to go into the main edit screen to do that.
Then, it will not publish the event at all. It puts it into a “scheduled” status and it does not appear on the website.

Is there a way to edit events, or do I have to delete them and start from scratch each time?

The Quick Edit feature in WordPress displays the post publish date, not the actual event start and end dates. Because of this, updating event dates through Quick Edit will not reflect changes to the event itself.

To correctly update the event date, you’ll need to open the full Edit Event screen, where you can adjust both the start and end dates.

Regarding the issue where the event is marked as “Scheduled” and not appearing on the site — this typically happens when the post’s publish date is set in the future.
