Submission and Voting Theme

Hi, I am building a site and I want to know if there is a way to create a submission and voting site using wordpress. I am currently using the Buddypress theme because I want the site to have a social network feel, but it does not allow users to submit articles or have them voted on. Is there another theme or plugin that will allow me to build a site like that? Thanks.
