The recent update in 9.1.0 “Update – Prevent editing of orders awaiting payment capture.” has caused significant issues with our workflow. Please let me know if there are any workarounds.

It’s understandable that additional charges cannot be added to the amount authorized during checkout, but why should it be impossible to reduce the amount charged? In some cases we need to remove items from an order before shipping, or provide discounts before capturing the final payment.

With the orders in progress now being uneditable, I wonder what is the purpose of having a payment authorization without capture? Why not just force everyone to capture the payment for the full amount if there is no possibility of modifying it? I am genuinely curious as to what the use case is now.

  • Hi @nickrytlewski,

As noted in the changelog, this is an update rather than a bug or issue that requires a workaround. Updates are carefully considered to improve the overall experience for most merchants. If this update is affecting your workflow, you can submit a feature request here. If enough users request its restoration, it may be reconsidered.
