    Hello,
I recently lost my website and wanted to restore it using a database backup I created earlier with UpdraftPlus. However, when I attempt to start the restoration process, I encounter the following error:

    Warnings:
This database backup is missing core WordPress tables: terms, term_taxonomy, term_relationships, commentmeta, comments, links, options, postmeta, posts, users, usermeta.
UpdraftPlus was unable to find any tables when scanning the database backup; it may be corrupt.

Could you please help me understand what might have gone wrong and if there’s any way to recover or fix this backup?

    Thank you.

You will not have a functioning restoration with this backup Do you have another DB backup that you can restore.

Do you have any of your old backup logs that I could look at, if so can you post using a tool such as pastebin.com

    Hello,
Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, I do not have another database backup.

I am sharing the link to my only database backup on Pastebin: https://pastebin.com/CRrt7xk4

    Thank you for your help.

    Hi there,

Unfortunately the file you linked doesn’t have the required information for a restore.
Normally a database backup will have a file name like this: backup_2025-01-28-1540_EXAMPLE_60668ecc777a-db.gz

Within the compressed file there will be information on the tables and all their values.
Without this information there isn’t enough data to populate the database effectively.

    Best regards,

    Nick

    Hello Nick,

Thank you for your response. Honestly, I don’t understand how I can create a database backup, yet the file ends up incomplete.

I understand that there is nothing that can be done now, but please take this as constructive criticism.

    Best regards

    Hi Adam,

Thank you, I am sorry the cause of the empty database backup is unclear to us both.
I’ve not encountered this before so don’t have a point of reference to help guide us.

Normally we would ask for the backup log file to be able to see any issues within it.
Without this we don’t know what went on which may have caused the missing info.

We do welcome feedback, and constructive criticism. We really want to give our best.
The difficulty here, as mentioned above, is we have very little info to analyze the issue.

    Best regards,

    Nick

    Hi Adam,

Thank you very much, I’m really very sorry I’ve not been able to be of better assistance.
We all get a lot of satisfaction from helping and it’s disappointing when we’re unable to.

All the very best from TeamUpdraft!

    Nick
