No profiles visible in member directory

Setup: PHP 8.3, WordPress 6.7.1, Ultimate Member Version 2.9.2, Theme “Twenty Twenty-Four”

No matter what is set on the member account page for the options “Profile Privacy” and/or “Hide my profile from directory”: no profiles are shown on the member directory page.

Tested on a fresh WP installation and 2 other WP sites running the latest version of Ultimate Member.

Have you enabled the “Members Directory” in UM Settings -> General -> Users ?

Look at your Browser web Console if you have any JavaScript errors.
Mouse right button click, select Inspect then Console in the Menu.

Try to enable PHP error logging if the debug will give some more info about this issue.

You will probably get a PHP log file with notices and errors in this file:
.../wp-content/debug.log

Post the content of this file here in the Forum.
You can remove any text with your domain info.
For best formatting use the Forum’s CODE format.

@missveronicatv The debug.log didn’t help but I was able to solve the problem in the test installation.

But: in my production installation (UM running since many years), it’s not possible to show the option “Hide my profile from directory” (Yes/No) in the privacy tab on the account page. I’m sure that the feature is enabled in my General Settings –> Account –> Privacy Tab. The option “Enable users ability to alter their profile visibility in member directories” is checked.

Any idea?

Member directory settings

“Allow users to hide their profiles from directory”
will enable/disable the radio buttons in all User’s Account Privacy page.

“Hide profiles from directory by default”
will update all User’s settings in their Profile’s Account Privacy page
where the User’s setting is different from the default setting.

Privacy Setting

“Can make their profile private?”
will show the dropdowns with Privacy and Indexing selections

This does not work. I switched in on and off serveral times but the radio buttons don’t show up in the privacy tab on the account page.

The “Can make their profile private?” option in the role settings does work. I can turn this on and off.

Which meta_key in my wp_options table is resonsible to store the setting for “Allow users to hide their profiles from directory”? Maybe we can find the problem there …

Try to “click Sort functionality” in the Members Directory.

You can enable Sorting for some fields in the Members Directory.
When enabled Click for sorting like Old Users first in the Directory page.
