•  recently launched my website, but I’ve run into an issue. When I Google my site, instead of displaying my website’s actual content, it shows the template name and placeholder text that came with the template I used.

I’ve updated the website, but it seems like Google hasn’t caught up. I think it might have indexed the site when I was still working on it, and now it’s stuck showing the template info.

    Here are some more details:

    • I’m using dreamhost and wordpress.org.
    • I’ve already published all my actual content.
    • The incorrect title and meta description are what’s showing up in Google search results.

Does anyone know how I can fix this? How do I ask Google to reindex my site?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

  • Here is the official Google documentation on how to “Ask Google to recrawl your URLs,” which may be helpful: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/crawling-indexing/ask-google-to-recrawl

    Hi @tomsfilmhub

Please follow these steps to rank the actual content of your website

    1. Remove or unpublish draft pages and posts.
    2. Create a Google Search Console account, Verify your website andRequest indexing for updated content.
    3. Request removal of unwanted content from Google, Use the “Removal” option in Google Search Console to remove unwanted listing on google
    4. Implement SEO plugins, I recommend using Yoast SEO and update the Meta data (title and description) uisng Yoast
    5. Ensure that both sitemap.xml and robots.txt are functioning correctly.

    Thanks,
    Nuhman Nathly
