Conflict with (Hide My) WP Ghost when enabling Members Private Site option
-
I already love the Members plugin for years and recently (as in this week) I started to use the (Hide My) WP Ghost plugin to further enhance my sites access.
I have set (Hide My) WP Ghost up with “/sso/auth/” as the new login endpoint/url.
On the main site of my multisite network setup it all works like a charm. That said, when I go to a subsite (e.g. /forum/) which has Members’ Private Site option enabled, when I’m not yet logged in, then I end up with a time out due too many redirects (ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS).
It looks like Members isn’t picking up that new login endpoint/url set via (Hide My) WP Ghost.
Here are the settings I use in (Hide My) WP Ghost:- Go to: WP Ghost > Change Paths > Login Security
- Custom Login Path: /sso/auth/
- Hide “wp-loging.php” ENABLED
Hide /wp-login.php path from visitors. - Hide “login” Path ENABLED
Hide /login path from visitors. - Hide the New Login Path ENABLED
Hide the new login path from visitors. Show the new login path only for direct access.
I initially reached out to (Hide My) WP Ghost and they came back with the following:
- Ask to make a compatibility for the plugin in order to work with custom paths
- Ask which custom path is creating the issue and remove it from WP Ghost plugin so it doesn’t affect their plugin anymore
So – here I am asking the questions to you 🙂
I did try to troubleshoot further myself already and what I figured out so far is that the option to Hide the New Login Path is the most likely source of the problem.
Can you please have a look into this when time permits? It would be wonderful to be able to use both awesome plugins fully in tandem.
Btw: Hide My WP Ghost shortened their name starting 2025 to WP Ghost. For clearity I have added (Hide My) everywhere as it’s kind of a transition period I reckon when people are searching for it.Related: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/conflict-with-members-when-enabling-private-site-option/
