    I’ve got 2 issues:

    1. I’m getting this message on the plugin’s settings page: “Error occurred on last SpamFireWall check. SpamFireWall database is outdated. Please, try to synchronize with the cloud.” I’ve tried syncing with the cloud and nothing changes.

    2. The plugin was working great until January 1st, when we suddenly started getting regular spam again. It has continued ever since.

    Thanks for the help!

  • Hello @martinparets,

Please, re-install the CleanTalk Anti-Spam Plugin:
    • WordPress Admin Page → Plugins → Installed plugins → Anti-Spam by CleanTalk → Deactivate and Delete.
    • Then install it anew, the guide is here: https://cleantalk.org/help/install-wordpress

After that refresh your website cache. Make sure that the website cache is 24 hours or less.

It will solve the issue. Did it help?

    Hi @serge00

Thanks for the help. That fixed the error, but unfortunately has not fixed the spam. We’re still getting every entry on the contact form as approved. Any ideas?

    Hello,

I’ve tested your contact form and my request was blocked as intended. The email field is not required on your contact form. You can try to make it required to improve filtering. Could you also mark missed spam requests for us?

@sergecleantalk – Got it. I’ve mark the missed spam requests for you, and will continue to do so. Does this train the filter in any way? Blacklisting the senders doesn’t help because they’re using different IPs and emails each time.

I’m asking the client about requiring email address – I don’t think it will be an issue, but I will note that the spammers have historically always entered an email address anyway.

    Hello @martinparets,

By marking the requests as spam, the IPs and emails of the senders will be added to your personal blacklists for 30 days.

I’ve analyzed the requests you marked as spam. These were the manual submissions from different devices and IPs where all the spam checks were passed by the users. So that our system had no reason to block it. Please keep marking the spam requests in your anti-spam logs. It will give us more data for analysis.
