    you ca read here for a great explanation of how permalinks work

    But to sum it up, you must have something else called services (maybe a categroy or something) that is already a term in your permalinks

    or…if its a page, you may have a copy of the page in your trash. If you make a page or post and trash it, but do not empty your trash, and make another post or page with the same name, the item in the trash still exists….so a number is appended to the url. You can empty your trash to remedy that

    the trash idea worked. I had a page previously defined as services and for some reason i deleted it and created another one which resulted in services-2
